"PARADISE ALLEY"

Next month I'm coming back strong with a theme, but for now lets talk about a very forgotten Stallone picture "Paradise Alley". This film came out between the first two "Rocky" films and sadly it will never garner the attention those movies have generated. Stallone wrote, directed, and starred in this professional wrestling themed movie. Pro-wrestling may be the reason it didn't become as popular as any of the "Rocky" films, because let's face it, no one takes pro-wrestling seriously. "Paradise Alley" follows three brothers involved in an underground wrestling circuit that makes it seem like the physical effects of pro-wrestling are real like any other combat sport. But it isn't just about wrestling, it is about family and life in Hell's Kitchen. This is a movie about people and characters. There are a lot of old school wrestler cameos along with Tom Waits film debut. Stallone sings the theme song as well. Check it out and enjoy.

"THE BRAIN"

Don't worry folks, I assure you this blog is not dead. I've just been quite busy lately and haven't even had time to watch anything new myself. But to keep you B-movie fans occupied till my next real update, I'm going to leave you with one of my favorite horrible movies of all time "The Brain". This movie defines bad, but for many reasons it remains exciting to this day. Where to start? A giant extremely fake looking monster brain growing to epic proportions and eating people; well thats a good start. David Gale from "Re-Animator" playing an awesomely evil villain once again is another huge plus. Sure there are cliches and bad dialogue, but you can't expect that much from a film of this caliber. Just sit back and enjoy one of the late 80's finest schlock horrors.
